Goals & Accomplishments

Goals:

  • To advocate awareness and appreciation of horses and to celebrate the rich equestrian heritage of the Woodside area by organizing annual public events
  • To facilitate communication among equestrian organizations and to coordinate action on significant issues affecting the keeping of horses and the maintenance of trails
  • To enhance communication between equestrians and non-equestrians
  • To inform residents and visitors about the safety concerns of horsemen and about trail etiquette
  • To preserve the rural ambience of the Woodside area by promoting the restoration and maintenance of barns and trails

 

Accomplishments:

  • Established the Folger Stable Committee to preserve the Folger Barn in Wunderlich Park.
  • Support of the Junior Riders Program for children of the Woodside Fire Protection District.
  • Published two brochures: "Woodside is Horse Country & " What a Difference a Horse Makes".
  • In 2005, created Woodside's signature event "The Day of the Horse". This annual event brings together hundreds of horse lovers each year to celebrate Woodside's equine heritage.

 

Gifts to the Community:


In addition to the many hours that Horse-shoeS.jpgsupporters volunteer to the community, they also donate funds raised from events such as the Woodside Day of the Horse to local horse related projects.

  • Pedestrian and equine trails in the town of Woodside, Huddart Park and the Mid-Peninsula Regional Open space District (MROSD).
  • Support of the Folger Estate Stable Project.
  • Support of the Junior Riders Program for children of the Woodside Fire Protection District.
