|Day of the Horse|
The noble horse not only enriches the lives of all of us who ride and care for them, they have made the town of Woodside a unique community. The Day of the Horse, held yearly on the second Saturday of October, is the brainchild of two Woodside horse lovers who wanted to bring the community together in support of the horse. It is a chance to pay tribute to our equine friends with a day of fun and festivities.
The event has two main components, The Horse Fair in downtown Woodside and the Progressive Trail Ride for experienced riders and their horses. The event is open to the public. Admission to the Horse Fair is free while a small registration fee/donation is required for the Progressive Trail Ride. RIDER REGISTRATION FORM 2012
To date, donations from our riders and sponsors have allowed us to gift over $82,619 to several important projects including the restoration of the historic Folger Stable, the Woodside Junior Riders Program, the Maintenance of Equestrian and Pedestrian Trails in the Woodside Trail System, County Parks and MROSD, Large Animal Rescue Equipment, and the Veryl Goodnight Sculpture "Spring and Sprite" in downtown Woodside.
Each year over 120 volunteers donate countless hours to making Day of the Horse a success. But for this important participation from the community, the event would not be possible. Please consider lending a hand whether it be in the weeks and months before event day or on the day itself. Fill out and return our volunteer form and we'll contact you shortly. Thank you!
