The Town of Woodside Trails Committee is delighted to present to Bob O'Neil the 2009 Trails Legacy Award. Bob has dedicated himself to preserving and enhancing the trail system in Woodside. A resident of Woodside since l967, Bob has served as treasurer of the Woodside Trail Club, as well as the club's membership chairman.
In addition, Bob served numerous times as the announcer at the Mounted Patrol horse shows, and served as the jump judge at the Horse Park. He was an active member of the Los Altos Hunt Club. A current owner and breeder of thoroughbred race horses, Boots, the dean of pari-mutuel clerks, still works at Bay Meadows at the off track betting sight. He has been at Bay Meadows for 50 years, during which time he saw history being made with the likes of Seabiscuit.
Bob’s passion for horses has fueled a lifetime of contributions to many forms of horse sports and pastimes. His efforts have benefited the Woodside community, including our trails, in enduring ways.
