All of us lucky enough to live in this special place treasure our rural setting - its open fields, wooded hillsides, numerous streams, scenic vistas, and large parcels that afford the opportunity to keep livestock.
Woodside owes its very existence and appeal to horses. Horsepower built Woodside, horse people have enriched it, horse trails have enhanced it, and horse properties have protected it from development. As a result, Woodside's open lands and rustic charm are as coveted as rare gems in the congested Bay Area. This valuable asset needs diligent protection.
Recognizing its debt to the horse, the value of its ranching history, the resulting attraction of its rural nature and ensuing economic benefits, Woodside actively protects its equestrian legacy and trail system through legislation, volunteerism, and its General Plan.
The Woodside-area Horse Owners' Association works on its own and with other organizations to protect and celebrate the local and regional heritage of the horse.
In honor of some of the outstanding contributions made by local members of the horse community, we would like to ackowledge these individuals and the various awards they have received:
- Bob O'Neil: 2006 Whoa! Hall of Fame Award
- Ursula Eisenhut: 2005 Whoa! Hall of Fame Award
- Richard M. Delucchi: 2006 Woodside Trails Legacy Award
- Howard Boone: 2005 Woodside Trails Legacy Award
